Summary:
This workshop series focused on core principles of clinical research ethics and research misconduct, including responsible conduct of research (RCR), data fabrication and falsification, plagiarism, authorship ethics, and researchers’ ethical responsibilities.
The workshops were attended by approximately 120 participants and were delivered as a targeted series for pharmacists from Al-Razi Pharmacy Chain and Leen Pharmacy Chain in Irbid and Amman. The series aimed to enhance participants’ awareness of ethical standards in clinical research, promote integrity and accountability in research practices, and strengthen ethical decision-making in both professional and academic settings.
Through interactive discussions and real-world examples, the workshops provided practical guidance to help participants recognize, prevent, and address unethical research behaviors in their daily practice.

2. Overview of Medical Research: Study Designs and Essential Ethics

Summary:
This workshop introduced common medical research study designs and their associated ethical considerations, with a particular emphasis on informed consent, risk–benefit assessment, and the protection of research participants.
The workshop was conducted at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Zarqa University, in collaboration with the Scientific Research Club, and was attended by approximately 50 participants. The session aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of ethically sound research design, raise awareness of researchers’ responsibilities toward participants, and support ethical decision-making in medical and pharmaceutical research.
Through practical examples and interactive discussion, the workshop enhanced participants’ ability to critically evaluate research studies while upholding ethical standards in academic and clinical settings.

3. Statistics Using R Program

Summary:
This hands-on workshop series introduced statistical analysis using R, with a focus on ethical data analysis, transparency, and reproducibility in biomedical research. The workshops were conducted at the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), and were specifically designed for graduate students in the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences.
The series, titled “R for Reproducible Data Analysis,” was delivered by Dr. Faten Atrooz, a Fulbright U.S. Scholar from the University of Houston, USA, in collaboration with the Arab Academy for Research Ethics (RCR Arab Academy). The workshops aimed to introduce early-career researchers to best practices in statistical programming using R, highlight its role in data visualization and reproducible research, and strengthen the quality and integrity of biomedical research outputs.

4. AI Agent Liability & Ethics

This workshop explored ethical and legal issues related to AI agents, with a focus on liability, accountability, and governance of AI systems in healthcare and research. The workshop was conducted at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Jordan University of Science and Technology, and was designed specifically for Master’s students in Bioethics. It was delivered by Tabrez Ebrahim, Associate Professor of Law at Lewis & Clark Law School and a Fulbright U.S. Scholar. The session aimed to strengthen students’ understanding of ethical and legal accountability frameworks and promote responsible governance of AI applications in healthcare and research.

5. The Future of Pharmacy: Integrating Agentic AI in Pharmaceutical Practice

This lecture examined the role of agentic AI in pharmaceutical practice, highlighting ethical challenges related to autonomy, accountability, and trust, as well as the implications of AI-assisted decision-making in clinical and research settings. The session discussed how intelligent agents can support pharmacists in areas such as clinical judgment, medication management, and data-driven decision-making, while also addressing potential risks, biases, and ethical responsibilities.
The lecture was delivered by Professor Qusai Al-Balas, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, in collaboration with Dr. Soraya Al-Nabulsi, at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Jordan University of Science and Technology. It was designed specifically for Master’s students in the Faculty of Pharmacy, with the aim of preparing future pharmacists to ethically and effectively engage with emerging AI technologies in professional practice.

The workshop was conducted in Damascus, Syria, in collaboration with Centre for Strategic Studies and Health Training. It was delivered by Ayat Ali Al-Deeran, a Master’s graduate in Bioethics, and aimed to enhance participants’ awareness of ethical standards in research while equipping them with practical tools to recognize, prevent, and address unethical research behaviors.
