May 22, 2024, Ms. Toojan Qadoura, a master’s student in the Biomedical Ethics program at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), led a webinar titled “Research Ethics and Conflict of Interest.” The event took place from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm and provided valuable insights into the ethical challenges researchers face when navigating conflicts of interest in academic and scientific research.
Ms. Qadoura’s presentation emphasized the importance of maintaining transparency, integrity, and accountability in research. She discussed how conflicts of interest can arise in various forms, from financial ties to personal relationships, and how these situations, if not properly managed, can compromise the credibility of research outcomes.
Through real-world examples and interactive discussions, the webinar explored strategies for identifying and mitigating conflicts of interest, with a focus on ensuring that ethical considerations are prioritized throughout the research process. Participants, including students and faculty members, actively engaged in the Q&A session, raising questions on how to handle complex ethical dilemmas in different research scenarios.
