Dr. Mariam Abbas, an RCR fellow and professor of the clinical chemistry department at the College of Medical Laboratory Science, Sudan University of Science and Technology, led a dynamic workshop titled “Importance of Ethics in Research and Informed Consent” in the beautiful and bustling city of New Alamein, Egypt. The event took place on Wednesday, August 16th, 2023, from 11 am until 12 pm, and was hosted at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT).

With over fifty people in attendance, the workshop was a resounding success. Dr. Abbas employed interactive teaching methods to create an engaging atmosphere, ensuring that participants left armed with a greater understanding of the significance of ethics in research and the importance of informed consent. The workshop was a fantastic opportunity for individuals from a range of professional backgrounds and disciplines to come together, share their experiences, and broaden their knowledge.
